San Jose, CA, April 20, 2010 – Alverix, Inc., a leader in providing next generation instrument and connectivity platforms for diagnostic Point-of-Care (POC) testing, today announced that it will present during a poster session at the 42nd Annual Oak Ridge Conference on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 4:30pm - 6:30pm PST at the Fairmont San Jose located in San Jose, CA.
Alverix’s poster presentation entitled, “A Novel Simulation Toolkit for Lateral Flow Assays” will be presented by Scott Dylewski, PhD, Senior Scientist at Alverix. Scott will highlight Alverix’s ability to identify and measure significant data from an assay, and then match that information with mathematical models to extract additional assay parameters, including binding rate constants and total conjugate. These new simulations provide scientists with the ability to isolate specific assay attributes and optimize performance, thus enabling improved and more sophisticated point-of-care tests.
Instrumentation developed by Alverix can enable lab quality results at a near patient setting, where test information is critical for patient care. Until now, this level of performance required complex and costly bench-top instrumentation. In contrast, Alverix’s detection devices incorporate sophisticated software algorithms and optoelectronics in a portable, battery operated form factor ideally suited for the Point-of-Care – in physician office labs, retail clinics, emerging markets and the home – for a fraction of the cost of today’s market leading readers.
About Alverix
Alverix is a leader in providing next-generation instrument and connectivity platforms for diagnostic Point-of-Care (POC) testing. Building upon a 30-year legacy within Hewlett Packard and Agilent, Alverix was spun off as a privately held company in 2007 and is based in San Jose, CA. Alverix’s systems enable laboratory class performance in a mobile, inexpensive format, extending testing beyond high volume sites to physician office labs, retail clinics, emerging markets and the home. Alverix’s target markets include infectious disease, drugs of abuse (DOA), cardiac markers, cholesterol/lipids, glucose and hemoglobin, amongst others. With strength in product design, product development and high volume manufacturing, Alverix is leading the transition of diagnostic testing from the laboratory to all locations where immediate results are critical to patient care. www.alverix.com.
